Yo it's pixel day today!
Which is awesome because I fucking love chiptune (and vgm style music) so much! While I didn't have much of a chance in my childhood to experience some of the awesome chips I hear now, I think I can still appreciate how much hard work goes into creating og chiptunes. (I have no fucking idea how to use a tracker lol)
People who make these on real hardware (cough newlife+ cough) are super talented (I wish I could be them).
But I would like to share my chips and vgm tunes that I have made over the years, along with a brand new one (kind of inspired by knuckle sandwhich)
Average4K is a game I am still working on (contrary to popular belief), and I made this song for it: Pixel Boss.
It's still one of my all time best songs I have made, a little rough around the edges (could have been mixed a lot better) but in all; it was a fantastic first step inside of chipstep (non-full chiptune).
While I have made other songs that could fall into chipstep, chiptune, or vgm before Pixel Boss. That was the first really good one in my opinion.
Pixel Disco (which I made before Pixel Boss but released later) is actually somehow a really good song even though at the time I thought it was awful. It's actually really good and I want to use it in a project sometime.
God's Gaze is what I would call the real first good chipstep song I have made, and it's a really good loop made in the style of Rain World. Very proud of it and you'll probably catch me listening to this way more times than I probably should. (yeah I listen to the music I make a lot, because I enjoy making music and I like making things that I like!)
Sometimes you find yourself in a probably toby fox inspired world looking for a store to buy some funny magical items and you get greeted with some fancy tunes with a cool epiano and you get welcome to my store. I think this one is really good, it's chords work well with the melody and while the bass is simple, it hits so good.
I DID make a song for pixel day, while I can't say it's my best. I do believe that it hits the feeling its supposed to. There's a Ghost is 100% inspired by Knuckle Sandwhich's ghost freezer section because that game was fucking awesome lol.
Go check it out if you haven't already, it's a fun listen.
That's it for me atm, I hope all of you are doin good and happy new year.
Hopefully you'll see an Average4K update from me in a bit, but only time will tell.
Thanks for readin.
